Everything you need to know about 2017 primary school applications
Sunday 15 January 2017 is the deadline for primary school applications, so if you haven't already done so, you need to take action quickly. Your chances of getting the place you want for your child are greatly reduced if you miss the deadline. Applications for places at state primary schools may be made online or via a printed application form which you can obtain from your local council.
My child is being bullied but it never happens on school premises. What action can I take?
By law, all UK state schools must have an official policy in place to prevent all types of bullying. Schools are also legally obliged to follow all UK anti-discrimination laws, which means that staff must do everything they can to prevent discrimination, victimisation and harassment both on and off school premises.

As an international student at a UK university, you have exactly the same public law rights as any home student and your overseas status should make absolutely no difference to the way you are treated by your university.
I don't believe that my child's school is making reasonable adjustments to deal with their disability. What is the law regarding this?
If you don't believe that your child's school is making reasonable adjustments to deal with their special needs or disabilities, then you do have a legal right to challenge them on this. As laid out in the Equality Act 2010, every educational institution has the duty "to take such steps as is reasonable" in order to "avoid substantial disadvantage" to any disabled pupil or student.

Government guidelines on excluding children from school in the UK clearly state that no child should be excluded in the heat of the moment, unless there is an immediate threat to someone's physical safety.

If your school of choice is refusing to admit your child and you feel that the school's decision has not been reached fairly, then it is your legal right to challenge that decision. Every UK school has a formal admissions policy that must be applied to every application.
