Services
Within the niche umbrella of Education Law, Match Solicitors offer professional guidance and support, as well as legal representation, in a wide variety of different circumstances. The kinds of cases in which we participate include but are not limited to the following:
- Cases against institutions, where our specialist education lawyers act on behalf of children, parents, students, teachers, professors and academics.
- Cases at all levels of education - we are as skilled in the law relating to schools and children, as we are in further & higher education law - and we advise and assist clients ranging from nursery to post doctoral education.
- Cases within the regulated sectors - where we act for professionals such as doctors, nurses, social workers, lawyers, psychologists and teachers.
- Cases within the academic sector - we have an experienced employment team assisting with employment challenges in this area.
Our practice is divided into four main service areas:
Schools and Children
Our Schools & Children Department houses some of the country’s leading specialists in all issues related to children and young people in education. Cases include disputes against independent schools, issues surrounding special educational needs, exclusions, admission appeals, bullying in school, discrimination claims, school complaints and negligence.
Further and Higher Education
In the Further & Higher Education department, we advise and assist students wherever they require legal help at university. Common internal university appeals include plagiarism, academic misconduct, disciplinary issues, withdrawal from university, discrimination claims, breach of contract and negligence. We have assisted a large number of students with complaints to the Office of the Independent Adjudicator for Higher Education and actively litigate against universities.
Employment Law
The Employment team advises teachers, lecturers, academics and professors on general employment issues such as redundancy, unfair dismissal, constructive dismissal, grievances, claims in the Employment Tribunal, and general employment contracts.
Fitness to Practise
The Fitness to Practise Department defends many students before Fitness to Practise Panels for medical, social work, pharmacy and nursing courses, as well as teachers before the National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL).
