We acted for a client in a very lengthy and complex case relating to her doctorate. Our client had attended a viva and was required to undergo major revisions over a period of two years. Our client came to us during the resubmission period and we noted that there were concerns of bias with the previous assessment and a number of elements of inadequate supervision. Our client wanted to have more supervision before she resubmitted her work as the University was stating that no more supervision hours would be provided to her.
We prepared and assisted our client throughout a complaint process to the University validating her degree. This culminated in a Complaint Appeal Hearing.
The Hearing Panel found that our client had not received adequate supervision and following further negotiation and discussion with the University it was agreed that our client would be able to resubmit as if for the first time and that further supervision would be provided to her.
This was a better outcome than our client could have hoped for before she came to us and gave her potentially two fresh chances at her doctorate with further supervision.
