We recently acted for a Teacher who was being pursued by the regulatory body for the Teaching Profession - the National College for Teaching and Leadership (‘the NCTL’).
Allegations were made that the Teacher had acted in a way that should be considered as unacceptable professional misconduct or conduct that brings the profession into disrepute. This was a case where the NCTL accepted that the case should proceed in private such was the degree of sensibility about possible identification of the pupils due to the factual matrix.
The Professional Misconduct Panel found that, while findings were made in relation to certain allegations, the NCTL had not made out their case. The Teacher is free to reengage with the teaching profession and, if they wish, they can ask the NCTL to issue a Statement to be published on the NCTL website to confirm that the Panel did not find the case proved.
The Panel took the opportunity to recognise the good work that the Teacher had achieved which was well received especially in light of the intensely stressful nature of the proceedings.
