We had the pleasure of assisting a parent secure a placement for his son at his preferred primary school. This was a long road for our client who had first tried, unsuccessfully, to appeal against the decision not to admit his son to the school, secondly he had to commission independent expert reports and bring an appeal to the First-Tier Tribunal (Special Educational Needs and Disability) to secure a suitably detailed Statement of Special Educational Needs as well as fighting for the primary school to be named in Part 4. Happily, before the case proceeded to final hearing, the Local Authority confirmed that it agreed with the proposed changes to the Statement, to include, importantly, for our client's son to transition to the primary school and for the primary school to be named in Part 4 of the Statement. Our client ultimately secured the outcome he had wanted for his son and there was a great sense of relief when he was notified of the start date. Never did our client think that it would be so difficult to get his son to the local primary school down the road!
