We acted on behalf of a parent who was an Appellant in a hearing in relation to the child’s admissions into a school where her cousin and sibling attended. The child had exceptional social and medical circumstances which were not considered by the School due to the parent’s error in relation to the category of the appeal that needed to be submitted. This was partly due to a change from the submission of admission applications on paper to an online system. We successfully represented the parent at the hearing by setting out the significant medical and social needs that both the parent and the child had which included exceptional caring responsibilities and medical circumstances of the family. Our client was extremely pleased with the result of the appeal as this had meant that the school had exceptionally allowed the child to be admitted into the parent’s preferred school for secondary education where she would attend with her family.
